William Arthur "Bill" Weasley (born 29 November 1970) was a pure-blood wizard and first son of the late Arthur Weasley and his wife Molly Weasley (née Prewett). He is the eldest brother of the Weasley family, elder brother to Charlie, Percy, George, Fred, Ron and Ginny Weasley. He attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry from 1982 to 1989 and was an exceptional student, becoming a prefect, Head Boy and attaining twelve O.W.L.s. After graduation, Bill went to work for Gringotts Wizarding Bank as a Curse Breaker in Egypt.
When the Second Wizarding War began, Bill returned to England and joined the reconstituted Order of the Phoenix. Around this time, he met Fleur Delacour, whom he began dating and eventually became engaged to. Bill became the Professor of Ancient Runes at Hogwarts in 1996 and aided Harry Potter whenever he could. During the takeover of Hogwarts by Death Eaters in 1997, Bill faced the werewolf Fenrir Greyback, getting severely injured with several scars to his face. Although he lucky not to become a full werewolf, he did inherit some wolfish traits such as heightened senses and a hankering for rare steaks. On 1 August 1997, Bill married Fleur Delacour, but opted to wed in France as marrying in Britain during these tumultuous times would be disastrous, which put him at odds with his mother, Molly. They moved into Shell Cottage, which was turned into a safehouse for the Order. Bill fought in the Battle of Hogwarts and survived.
After the war, Bill and Fleur had three children; Victoire Simone, Dominique Apolline, and Louis Sebastian Weasley. Stress in their marriage led to the couple's separation in 2016, but the two have since got back together and renewed their wedding vows.
