Sandra Mirela Iliescu (née Niță) (b. 9 January 1975), also known by her stage name Nitana, was a pure-blood witch of Romanian and Uzbek descent and popular singer that attended the Carpathian School of Magic from 1984 to 1994, the same year as her best friend: Natasha Romanova. She is the only child of Anton and Feruza Niță (née Burkhanov) and cousin of Dragomir and Adrian Dumitru, whose parents were her godparents. In addition to being a popular girl at school, Sandra was named the most beautiful girl in Romania on more than one occasion.
Throughout her years at Carpathia, Sandra fell in with the popular group of young witches and wizards that included Dragomir Dumitru, Natasha Romanova and her twin sister, Natalia, Vyacheslav Shostakov and other pure-blood students. Though initially hostile towards Mateo Maximoff, she was persuaded by Nicolas Mihalios to attend the Carpathian 700-Year Anniversary Ball with him. Though initially reluctant to attend, her time with Mateo on their date warmed him up to her and she actually looked forward to the dance. At the Ball itself, Sandra and Mateo stole the show and the two began a relationship afterwards. However, Sandra's relationship with him was unpopular with her friends, so she broke up with him lest they ruin her popularity within the school. After Nicolas' death, Sandra made no attempt to console her ex-boyfriend.
After her graduation from Carpathia, Sandra became a singer, becoming a sensation in Europe with her singles "Angel", "Love for Rent" and her most popular song, "I'm Sorry." She had an on and off relationship with schoolmate Marius Iliescu for much of the nineties, though an unexpected pregnancy in 1998 prompted the two to quietly marry; Sandra gave birth to a daughter in 1999, Ruxandra Natasha Iliescu. Marius died in 2017 due to unknown causes, and the funeral was hosted on 31 August. Surprisingly, the ceremony was attended by Mateo, who comforted Sandra in the wake of her loss despite their past history.
