"Heart's Desire" is a short story by Squibstress written for the 2012 Dysfuncentine Fest. It won a 2013 Quicksilver Quill Award from MuggleNet Fan Fiction and was a Featured Story on The Petulant Poetess for February 2014 and in their 2015 tenth anniversary celebration.


Minerva McGonagall's father tells her to be careful what she wishes for because she just might get it. When she does, she realises the truth of George Bernard Shaw's quip: "Life contains but two tragedies. One is not to get your heart's desire; the other is to get it."
