The Ebon Wand is a wand crafted by the wandmaker Allectus Livingston in his shop in Godric's Hollow in 1750. Livingston used ebony wood and a core of griffin feather. The wand was crafted specially for Grand Duke Horatio Bishop of Kinnimoore. Upon Bishop's death in 1824, Livingston reclaimed the wand, and wielded it as his own until his death in 1887. After Livingston's death, the wand was reclaimed by agents of Kinnimoore, where it resided in the possession of Grand Duke William Bishop I, Horatio's son, until his death in 1912.

The Ebon Wand resided in Lucius Malfoy's walking stick for several years.

After William I's death, the Ebon Wand was stolen from his belongings during his own funeral by his second son, John. John fled to London, England, where he sold the wand to Bourgin and Burkes in Knockturn Alley for a hefty sum. John Bishop used this money to buy passage to America, unfortunately, his ship sank and he drowned. Caractacus Burke was quite taken with the black wand, and kept it until his death in 1960.

Walburga Black purchased the Ebon Wand from Burke's estate sale. She displayed it in her home until 1979, when she gave it to Lucius Malfoy in return for killing her son Regulas, who she viewed as a traitor to the Dark Lord.

When it came into his possession, Malfoy had the Ebon Wand embedded in his walking stick. Malfoy used the wand until his incarceration in Azkaban, at which point it was confiscated by the Ministry of Magic.

After a brief dispute, the Ministry of Magic returned the wand to the Parliament of Kinnimoore. It is currently in the possession of Grand Duke William Bishop III.
