The Corvicus Covenant was formed by Madigan Steward and Circe Steward in 1962. Their movement mirrored Lord Voldemort's in England. Steward wished to assert his dominance over the wizarding world, which he believed he was entitled to because of his magical ancestry, and created an army of supporters through his coven.
History[]
In 1962, the newlywed Madigan Steward and Circe Tremblay wanted to take over the magical world, initially having no interest in the non-magical one. They rallied supporters, using Tremblay's network of blood-supremacists and Steward's Slytherin heritage to create their coven.
The coven remained underground, however, until 1996. Inspired by the activities of Lord Voldemort in England, the Covenant decided to go public and attacked several important buildings in magical America.
Around this time, Tremblay grew interested in creating magical hybrid children to use as soldiers for the Crow War, and experimenting with hybrids in general. For the most part, she used volunteers who were honored to be in the inner circle of the Covenant. The only exception was with Hera Antaeus, who was chosen because she was a pregnant prisoner who was captured for being a double-agent.
However, the father of a boy who was involved in the experiment was growing his doubts, and believed Antaeus to be a friend. This caused him to break with the Covenant and choose to help her escape and fulfill her mission.
The Covenant chased them to Ilvermorny, where the Battle of Ilvermorny took place. During the battle, Merlyn Fontaine hid the artifact that Salem Blackwood and Hera Antaeus stole. While protecting the students, Antaeus dueled Madigan Steward personally, causing a tactical retreat.
Aurors made attempts to search for wanted Covenant members, but the organization had gone underground under the new leadership of Maeve Steward, the eldest daughter of Steward.
Under her, their objectives shifted to dominating both the magical and non-magical worlds.
In 2012, she would finally put a plan into action to steal back her mother's notebook from Merlyn Fontaine.
