Andrew Potter, 5th Duke of Inverness (1472 - 1503) was a pure-blood wizard and a member of the noble branch of the Potter family. He was the son of Antonius Potter and his wife, Eilidh of Appin. Andrew would marry a woman named Felicia of Peth, and the two would have a son, Claudius, who succeeded his father as the Duke of Inverness.

Andrew is from the Greek name Ανδρεας (Andreas), which was derived from ανηρ (aner) "man" (genitive ανδρος (andros) "of a man"). This name has been common (in various spellings) throughout the Christian world, and it became very popular in the Middle Ages. Saint Andrew is regarded as the patron of Scotland, Russia, Greece and Romania.
