Aeneanism was a syncretic religion based on pre-schism Chalcedonian Christianity and on the Perennial cults that were scattered across the ancient wizarding world.
The Aenean dogma originated in the 8th and 9th centuries, under both the prophet Saint Aeneas of Larissa and his followers. The Aenean belief came to be stabilized after the creation of the Aenean Church, itself having been based on the muggle Christian church of the time.
As of the late twentieth century, it was the largest religion in the wizarding world and the unofficial state religion of the magical Roman Empire.
